01 Common questions
Are the movers on the truck your own employees?
Every one of them, yes. Space City Movers is owner-run out of Houston, TX and fully licensed and insured — a Texas TxDMV household-goods license backs our local work while US DOT and MC authority covers interstate hauls. The trucks belong to us and the uniformed crews are on our own payroll.
What am I looking at for a move here in Houston?
A crew of two with a truck is billed at $139 an hour, and a three-mover crew at $199; either way there's a one-hour minimum, and we hand you the figure long before the truck shows up.
Where does the single flat figure come from?
We walk through it space by space — the overall square footage and how tricky the doorways are both feed in — then settle on one number. Once our movers get going, that figure is locked and won't creep upward.
How do I actually reserve a moving day?
A $100 deposit holds your date and comes off the final bill in full. Getting a quote costs nothing.
Are you a fully licensed and bonded Houston moving company?
We do. Beyond being fully licensed and insured, we hold a Texas TxDMV license plus US DOT and MC authority for interstate work — and the only hands on your belongings belong to our own payroll crew.
Can you handle a move during a Houston heat wave?
All summer long. An early start, a cooler of water riding along, a close watch on the forecast, and shrink-wrap over every piece mean a move in July heat goes off just as safely as one in mild spring weather.
What's your service area?
Houston, Harris County, and Greater Houston, reaching from Katy and Cypress to Sugar Land, Pearland, Spring, and The Woodlands.
For a long haul, does my stuff share the truck with anyone else's?
Never. Everything you own travels solo in one of our own trucks, so there's no shared trailer in the picture — and the same team that packs it in Houston is the team that empties it at the other end.
Can your crew move a piano or a gun safe?
Regularly. Cody, who runs our lead crew, wraps and secures gun safes, framed artwork, and pianos of any size, then eases them out on dollies rated to carry the load.
Could my move get handed to another carrier?
Not a chance. We're a Houston mover with our own fleet and a uniformed crew on our own payroll, so no third party ever touches the work — from first box to last, the job stays entirely in our hands.
02 Why us

An in-house crew, never a middleman

Hire us and the trucks, the movers, and the name on the paperwork all belong to the same company. A broker simply resells your job to whatever carrier bids cheapest, then steps out of the picture once you’ve signed.

Space City Movers
  • Trucks we own, run by a vetted, full-time crew
  • A single written flat rate — the quote is the final bill
  • The movers who load your home are the ones who unload it
  • Licensed, insured, and running on our own US DOT and MC authority
  • One local office and one contact from first call to last box
The typical broker
  • Sells your job off to whichever carrier bids the least
  • Add-on charges and a fresh quote dropped on you come move day
  • Total strangers turn up to handle your belongings
  • No straight answer on who actually holds the liability
  • A phone bank standing in for a real local crew
